Prabha’s Specializations

As a Licensed Therapist certified in EMDR therapy, I work with individuals and couples across a wide spectrum of life experiences, identities, and emotional needs. My approach is rooted in attachment-focused therapy, which means I prioritize the importance of early relationships, emotional safety, and secure connections in the healing process.

I am honored to support clients of diverse ethnicities and sexual orientations, and I bring cultural sensitivity and an affirming lens to every session. Whether you’re facing trauma, anxiety, or relational challenges, therapy is a space where lasting healing is possible.

EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a transformative psychotherapy method that helps clients heal from trauma and distressing life events by activating the brain’s natural ability to process and resolve emotional pain.

This approach is effective not just for PTSD and trauma, but also for anxiety, depression, phobias, and early childhood wounds. Through guided protocols, EMDR allows clients to reprocess painful memories and form healthier, integrated narratives of self—often more quickly than traditional talk therapy alone.

Issues EMDR Can Help With

EMDR is widely used to treat both shock trauma and developmental/attachment trauma, as well as a variety of psychological and relational issues. In my practice, EMDR is a core modality used to support healing in areas such as:

✓ Trauma
✓ PTSD
✓ Complex trauma
✓ Anxiety
✓ Panic attacks
✓ Social anxiety
✓ Depression
✓ Low self-worth
✓ Relationship issues
✓ Communication problems
✓ Attachment wounds
✓ Emotional neglect
✓ Childhood trauma
✓ Grief
✓ Loss
✓ Phobias
✓ Life transitions
✓ Identity shifts

How EMDR Works

  • We begin by identifying a target memory or emotional experience (this could be a traumatic event, a recurring anxiety pattern, or a moment tied to shame or self-doubt).
  • You’ll be guided through bilateral stimulation techniques while holding that memory, allowing your brain to reprocess it without becoming overwhelmed.
  • Over time, the emotional intensity decreases and new, more empowering beliefs emerge (e.g., “I’m safe now” or “I’m worthy of love”).
  • This process works because EMDR taps into the brain’s natural healing capacity, much like the body heals from physical injury.
